About the programme

Lasting reform for every child

Shule Bora is a 6-year system-strengthening programme that impacts learning in over 6,000 schools across Tanzania, funded by UK International Development. It is delivered through technical assistance, working directly with ministries and local authorities. It embeds experts within national and regional structures, strengthens existing systems for teacher training, inclusive education, and data-driven planning. This focus on building institutional capacity ensures that improvements in teaching quality and school safety are sustainable, scalable, and fully owned by the Tanzanian government. This Knowledge Hub brings together all the resources created through the programme.

About the programme

Strengthening Tanzania's Primary Education System

Shule Bora is a Government of Tanzania programme that works to strengthen the primary education system to improve learning and teaching outcomes. By embedding reform within national and regional structures, and working alongside ministries, local authorities and development partners, the programme drives sustainable improvements in teaching, school safety and learning outcomes. This work is anchored by the Education Programme for Results (EPforR), which links funding directly to measurable results and ensures that resources reach schools where they matter most.
